The Government is trying to sell VA land right when our veterans need it most.
UPDATE(10/1/2007):  VA Asks For Army Reserve Land to be Returned to Veterans

In June 2006, the US Army auctioned-off the 10 acre Army Reserve site at Wilshire and Federal.  This land was deeded in 1888 as a permanent home for Veterans.  Fortunately, Los Angeles County filed an environmental lawsuit and settled the case by requiring the preparation of a full Environmental Impact Study prior to title changing.  But the sale could still go forward after the environmental documentation is completed.  The Coalition for Veterans' Land stands ready to defend this land based on the terms of the original grant deed and the Act of Congress establishing the National Soldiers' Home.

The Coalition wants to have this land:
  1. Returned to the VA for direct service to Veterans.  The VA has made such a request, which has been ignored by the Army.  We continue to work closely with Supervisor Yaroslavsky to stop this sale and see that the land is used only by Veterans.

  2. Included in a federal masterplan of all remaining National Soldiers' Home property (VA, Federal Building site, Army Reserve and National Guard).
